iSight and PC

Well after be annoyed at the lack of good instructions on how to use an Apple iSight with a PC (Windows XP anyway) i have come up with a solution.

Step One: Download one or of the follownig peices of software. I recomend the 2nd.

Step Two: Install

Step THree: Plug in iSight and cancel out of any "Automated Hard Installations" windows pop ups

Step Four: Launch EyeBall chat. (click preview button)
Step Five: Click Setting Button
Step Six: goto the Video Tab
Step Seven: from the pull down menu select the 1394 Desktop Video Camera
Step Eight: Click Properties
Step Nine: Click "Video Proc Amp" adjust brightness so the image is not washed out
Step Ten: Click "OK" twice.

You are now good to go. You can use AIM or any other windows based chat program. Windows will remember your profile. If you use the other software it gives you a bit more control over the image.

Happy chatting.

Yes! This worked! Thanks for the suggestion.

Lots of sites around the net claim the iSight works (for video not audio) on XP, but I have been plagued by this brightness problem until your solution.

I wonder why more applications don't provide access to the control panel which these two little ones do. Or where the settings are stored in the registry so I can get to them directly.
